My mom has always told me that ‘nurses do the same, or more, work than doctors but without the pay’. I always thought that was the ranting of a former nurse.
My experience as a patient over the past 5 years has often served to reinforce my mother’s sentiment. Today I saw the abstract linked below, and I had to wonder.
Growing Number of Nurse-Owned Health Clinics Opening in Rural Missouri

My mother was a nurse as well for many many years. She’s not anymore, but she definitely thought she worked harder than doctors, and based on the time(s) I spent in the ER watching her work, I would agree she seemed to do more physical stuff. Doctors have to know a ton, but then a good nurse knows practically as much as a doctor, tho didn’t have to go to school for as long. I’m not expert, but I would agree nurses do appear from an outsider perspective to work more than doctors.
